Frequently Asked Questions
Q: “How do I get my loved one into the Long-Term Care Centre? Is there a cost?”
A: Individuals wishing to apply to St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre must contact the CCAC (Brant Community Care Access Centre) at 519-759-7752. The CCAC will assist you in completing the application forms and determine if you are eligible for admission to a Long-Term Care facility. You will have an opportunity to indicate your preference of homes. Costs depend on the financial circumstances of the resident.
Q: “How can our family access the services of the Hospice? Is there a cost?”
A: St. Joseph’s wants to make Stedman Community Hospice programs as accessible as possible. A policy has been put into place and referrals from families, individuals, or health care providers need to meet established criteria prior to admission.
As for cost, our goal is to offer Hospice services free of charge based on our fundraising success. We now receive partial funding from the provincial government to help staff our residential programs but we also give thanks to St. Joseph's Lifecare Foundation for taking up the challenge of raising funds to cover capital, and operating costs not funded in order to ensure that the Hospice can help those in need, without the added financial burden facing these families at this critical time in their lives.
